Internship Fashion Design

We at Workingmenblues are looking for a creative and resourceful intern to join us in the role of Fashion Design Assistant

THE JOB
We are specialised in ready-to-wear garments and fabric sourcing for fashion clients worldwide. Besides that, we design for our in-house menswear line, Ampère. At WMB you will be assisting in the creation of our garments and artworks, fabric sourcing, and you will report directly to the Design Manager. As we are a small-sized company, you will get a hands-on look at every step; from the first sketch to the finished sample. You will be involved in a wide range of creative and practical tasks.

• GARMENT DESIGN: create flat sketches for to be launched garment developments.
• FABRIC SOURCING: translate sourcing requests into the right fabric proposals by using our archives and sourced materials.
• DIGITAL FABRIC ARCHIVE: build and maintain our digital fabric library.
• TREND BOARDS: translate inspiration into physical seasonal trend boards.
• ARTWORK DESIGN: create graphic and digital artworks.
• SWATCH REQUESTS: prepare fabric swatches, from careful cutting to neat packing and shipping.
• COLOUR CARDS: put together colour cards that present our fabrics and colour options.
• TECH FILES: prepare precise tech files for garments, fabrics and artworks.
• MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS: assist in creating visuals for online communications.

REQUIREMENTS

• EXPERIENCE: fashion design.
• CURRENTLY: enrolled in/recently graduated at uni (of applied sciences).
• COURSE BACKGROUND: fashion design / graphic design / textile design.
• PERSONALITY: creative, resourceful, organized.
• FLUENCY: English.
• COMPUTER SKILLS: Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, basic OS- and MS-programs. Procreate is a plus.
• ADVANTAGE: understanding of measurement-making, patterns, sewing, and different materials.

TO NOTE

• STARTING DATE: January/February. Exact date to be discussed.
• DURATION: 6 months.
• FULL-TIME
• LOCATION: Amsterdam.
• COMPENSATION: EUR 400/month.
• LAPTOP: we ask you to bring your own laptop including Illustrator and Photoshop. Coffees and lattes are on us.
• EU RESIDENCY: applicants should have the right to work in the Netherlands; we do not provide visa sponsorship.
